I'm spending more and more time with generative AI and finding myself impressed and sometimes stunned at the quality and depth of output. Provided, of course, I've invested the time and thought into prompts and revisions*. Can I make the * bigger?
But I also realized that if I spent the same amount of time with individuals on my human staff I'd probably get to where I'd been meaning to go a lot faster (without a bunch of beautifully structured bullet points and feedback of course).
So for me at least, we're still a long way from Capt. Picard saying "Computah..." and the meaningful work just being done.
Thanks for the thoughts. You’re absolutely right, the quality and depth of GenAI’s output can be stunning. With more to come, of course.
You hit on a key point. The humans on your staff are capable of quickly generating solutions and ideas that serve the needs of your business in relevant, accurate ways. Interactions between all of you matter. A lot.
I believe the need for that human to human time will only increase. Creating that “space” for those decisions and discoveries — last mile human communications — is integral to our success. We are the architects of our communications … and some “technical assistance” has arrived that we need to think carefully about. Exciting times lie ahead.
That kind of collaboration takes a lot of cognitive overhead (to plan) and energy (to execute).
I see the appeal of letting AI handle the second part, and (over time) learning to tee up the first part. At least as a means to scale yourself and your decision making process beyond your physical limitations.
Agreed. I'm most interested in how the human species will work with this new AI species -- that we created. This is an excellent time for us to think about what our mutual collaboration can look like.
Humans have always liked "resets" -- and indeed reboots. I don't want to say this is a "wake up call" ... but there is an element of that -- in a good way (if we want it to be).

I'm not bored of AI just yet ...

Definitely not boring.
